Review: Farm Fresh Pure Fresh Milk

This might sounds pretty anal but this is the brand of fresh milk that Capt'n Hook would hunt for all over Kuala Lumpur just to get hold of one bottle! The brand name is Farm Fresh and according to an expat friend, this milk is pure fresh milk that one can find on our shelves. The rest are mostly made from powder!!! Is this a revelation or not??

Farm Fresh Milk

I supposed when your regular fresh milk supplier who goes round in his motorcycle with a stainless steel cylinder at the rear is on holiday, you could look for this Farm Fresh brand by Mawai Dairy Farm, Kota Tinggi, Johor (as stated in the label) for pure milk. So far, we've bought them from Jaya Grocer (Empire Shopping); Cold Storage (Bangsar Shopping Complex which stocks runs out very quickly, The Gardens and 1 Utama. Hunted for it at Solaris Mont Kiara but there were none!). Of late, I've noticed they have plain yoghurt too which we haven't try yet.

One 2 litres bottle costs around RM12.90 or could be a few sens less. There was once I spotted 1 litre bottles. Errrm as for the taste... tasted like fresh milk unlike a certain brand that tasted sweet and artificial to me.

Please note, this is not a paid post :-) and we do not know anyone from the said farm :D

  15. Hi Hi
Does anybody know how the cows live on the farm? I agree with you guys that this milk is the best one can find in Malaysia, but I really would like to know for sure abt the cows living conditions are before I buy more. Just don't want to satisfy a taste sensation to the cost of bad lives for the cows!

  21. this milk is lousy. 3 times i bought it from carrefour midvalley, 3 times also the milk turn bad 2 days after opening the bottle. i believe farm fresh wouldnt expect their milk drinkers to finish drinking 2L in 2 days isnt it. and i even store it in the refrigerator on the highest level to ensure its freshness. when i called up the only number at the back of the bottle to make a report, no one picks up the phone (i call during office hours). at first when i bought it, i like it very much because the taste is genuine. but after several times of buying and getting a spoiled milk, i decided to stop buying this milk.

  22. Hi Wai, we have experienced the milk turning bad very quickly before expiry date. The thing with fresh milk is, you need to consume it ASAP.

We have learnt our lesson, so we now buy the 1 litre bottle instead. The other way to keep yr milk longer is to freeze it. If you have the 2 litres bottle and can't finish within 2 days, pour them into smaller containers and freeze them. It worked for us as we stock up the 1 litre bottles in the freezer and bring down to the fridge the day before drinking it.

  23. Hi Wai, besides the great taste, the very reason that our family stuck with Farm Fresh is because it goes off after 3-4 days. If fresh milk stay fresh for weeks, even the harmless latic acid bateria found it not fit for them, how can it be good for our kids! Saw a English lady looking for milk in VG bangsar while I was buying mine, told me that fresh milk she bought never goes off, that what worried her. I said this is it! This fresh milk has a reputation some joke that it goes off from the check out counter to car park and yet they still love it. Some time Less is More!

  25. Well said Martin. Anyway whether it stays good or not, we never drink milk that we have opened more than 5 days as bacteria grows quickly in them.

Just like milk that we used to give to BoiBoi when he was a baby, we never keep unfinished milk or made milk ahead and place in warmer. They harbour bacteria!

  26. Yep it taste like real milk.

I am surprise that Malaysia is such a "beef-base-diet" country, u should have more real cows in the country!

(i support local food for shortening long carbon journey and storage and packaging consumption)

  27. One of the things I loved about England when I visited was the fresh milk there which was so different from our milk here. Thanks to my sister who tried this milk in KL and sent me the link to this blog, I will now go on a wild milk hunt in Penang. Hopefully I will find it!! Funny how the topic of cow's milk can interest so many people!! :D

  28. ecowitch, our local meat are very expensive as there isn't that many farms here. cows raised for milk are of different species from those raised for meat

Jin-jin, surprising hor this post IS still one of the popular one with comments still rolling in! Well I hope you could find it as Jusco is selling it now, so is Carrefour. Good luck.

  29. Wow informative post, never knew that much about the milk I've been buying till now. Just got 2 bottles of Farm Fresh Milk in Jusco Midvalley. So delicious and creamy, now I know the difference in the taste between fresh milk and powdered milk. I've kept it right below the freezer compartment, hope the milk is chilled enough to last good.

  30. My family tasted our first "Farm Fresh" last few months, bought from KL's The Mall. We are regular fresh milk drinkers - Goodday was our normal supply (when it's available that is) - IMHO the best of the popular bunch - until we came across Farm Fresh. Been hunting for it ever since - thanks for the info (and the comments too).

  31. I'm living in KL for a year, I'm from India where we used to have fresh milk. And after coming here, I didn't like any of the branded fresh milk. I keep on trying every brand available in careefour., but later i found this one.. and I'm satisfied at last. Finally I found my fresh milk, indeed this is fresh than the rest available in the store...

  32. agree with one of the comment.. i like to buy 3-4 bottle each time..
but usually the last bottle that just open before the expiry date also turn bad. still not expired.. just open it last nite.. this morning already spoil..

i always make sure i finish up my milk in 2 days time.. it works for the first 2 bottle.. but at bottle 3or 4 i need to face this problem..

i already check my fridge temp.. it seem ok..

but since its sooo hard to find this 'milk taste'.. i need to stck to this one first.. huhu

  33. Hi Queen, may I suggest that you freeze your milk bottle #3 & #4. You'll need to thaw at least one day in the fridge. So you juggle a bit with that. It works for us.

  34. The yoghurt is the best I've tasted - so thick, creamy and smooth. So good! Haven't seen the milk where I live. I drink raw milk, which is the healthiest. RM5/litre, Indian/mamak sundry shop. I pour it into small plastic containers and freeze it immediately. Milk that lasts forever means the enzymes are all dead.

  35. For someone who dont like milk, this brand is the best so far. Not that thickly milky taste like the rest. Much better than Goodday HL n Dutch Lady. Now I can have cereals with milk for breakfast . Am going for healthier breakfast instead of the usual basi lemak, nasi dagang etc etc

  36. Bought 2 bottles farm fresh from mid valley, 1 ok but another 1 busuk.. 2 more weeks to expired n bottle seal. Wasted rm13 sad

  37. Chuan Chet, do note that you can return the bad milk to where to buy from. If you have thrown the receipt, just give Farm Fresh a call & they will replace for you.
