I've blogged about Jun Kee Restaurant before and it was on dishes served with rice. Now, Jun Kee also serves rather good noodle dishes. We were there for lunch at the old outlet, seems like they're also serving siew lap (roasted meat) rice. I saw roasted baby sized duck hanging at the display, looks kinda delish perhaps next time then.
Let's get on with the noodles. Their Sang Har Meen (fresh water prawn noodles) is on offer at RM19.80 for a single portion but good enough to be shared by 2. The reasonably large size of the prawns seems to be of value for money and I loved the eggy goodness of the thickish gravy peppered with slices of fresh ginger omn top of the crispy noodles.
Kong Nam Meen (RM10) I reckon must be the poorer cousin of Sang Har Meen for the gravy and crispy noodles are the same just that the ingredients usage is different. I like the large variety of vegetables such as carrot, mushrooms, florets of cauliflower and snow peas. In place of the large fresh water prawns are some prawns and slivers of tender pork.
It's our first time ordering this Fu Gua Chow Mai Fun (Stir-fried Rice Vermicelli with Bittergourd RM6). Since I'm a big fan of bittergourd, this bee hoon rocks. Loved the bits of har mai (dried shrimps) in this noodles which gave it a lot of flavours.
We need to have some greens and our choice of Stir-fried Romaine Lettuce with Preserved Beancurd went down well with BoiBoi. He ate almost 3/4 of this plate of vege! Can't fault him when the balance of the sauce was just nice.
It was certainly a satisfying lunch of RM49.40 for the above plus a pot of tea for 3.
