5th October 2005 marked the start of the fasting month which is also widely known as bulan Ramadhan. Ramadhan is the ninth month of the Islamic year. Siyam or Saum ("fasting" in English) is the fourth of the Five Pillars of Islam. It involves fasting during the month of Ramadhan. This event is observed by the Muslims around the world where eating, drinking, smoking and sexual intercourse are forbidden between dawn (fajr) and sunset (maghrib). At the end of the month, the Muslim will usher in Eid ul-Fitr or most commonly known in Malaysia as Hari Raya Aidil Fitri.
Over the years bulan Ramadhan seems to be over commercialised with the local councils approving licences and permits to set up stalls for Bazaar/Pasar Ramadhan in approved areas in the city.
I've been to the one at Bangsar but no pictures cos I was busy holding on to my boiboi since they did not closed the road. It was so crowded and there were cars weaving in and out thru the crowds. Pretty dangerous.
My fellow Malaysian floggers (hehehehe a term coined by Chubby Hubby, of food blogger) have done a really great job in featuring such Bazaar/Pasar Ramadhan. Me super duper lazy, so I'm gonna just link them.
